Wauconda High School
Wauconda High School (WHS) is a comprehensive high school for grades 9–12 located in Wauconda. WHS is the nucleus of the five communities it serves and provides leadership for two middle schools and three elementary schools.
WHS supports approximately 1,450 students from diverse backgrounds by offering a rigorous, coherent, and cohesive core curriculum and Advanced Placement courses and dual-enrollment with local colleges. Additionally, the school provides an academic program designed to specifically address the unique needs of students who require Accelerated Placement, English Language Learners (EL), and Special Education.
WHS prides itself on providing a positive, well-supported climate conducive to high achievement learning and a broad range of extra-curricular sports and activities. Each year, approximately 90 percent of graduating seniors enter universities or colleges, with a significant number of students attending various universities in the state university system, out-of-state institutions, and private schools around the state and country.
Wauconda High School’s curriculum consists of 19 Advanced Placement courses and numerous honors electives. Students at WHS consistently exceed state and national averages on SAT and ACT exams.
WHS proudly celebrates many accomplishments and accolades, which are achieved daily, by the exceptional instruction provided by our outstanding teachers in partnership with our dedicated and focused students, who are committed to raising the standards of academic success.
